By Plane
The Region of Waterloo airport (YFK) offers limited flights from Canada and the US, and is easy to get to the conference venue via taxi/rideshare. But most likely, you will be arriving from Pearson International airport in Toronto (YYZ).
Arriving from Pearson (YYZ)
The most convenient way of travelling to Waterloo from Pearson is by car (~1 hour). Booking a ride from rideshare apps can cost ~$100-150 (depending on traffic), but Waterloo Taxi offers fixed price rides to ($110) and from ($130) Pearson.
Another option is taking a bus (~1.5-2 hours). The Go Bus and the FlixBus can be booked online. The University of Waterloo has a Go Bus stop across from the Davis Centre.
If you are flying with Air Canada, you can also book a ticket which includes a bus transfer, which takes you from Pearson airport to the Waterloo airport as part of your ticket.
Arriving from Billy Bishop (YTZ)
This airport is located downtown Toronto and is close to Union Station. Free, frequent shuttle buses operate between the airport and Union Station. From Union Station, there are trains and buses that run to Waterloo.
By Train
VIA Rail and GO transit offer train service to Kitchener, and can be booked online. From the train station, the conference venue is a short car ride (~10 minutes).
It is also close to the Central Station ION stop, Waterloo’s light rail system (~5 minute walk). There is a station on the University of Waterloo campus, heading towards Conestoga. Tickets are $3-4 and can be purchased using the machines at the station or using the GRT mobile app.
We also recommend taking the local bus and ION to travel within Waterloo if you do not have a car.
